Code of Professional Ethics

Statement of Purpose

The following Code of Professional Ethics has been developed in an effort to promote professionally sound, ethically driven decision making that serves at all times, in the best interests of students.

1.) I will, in an effort to promote student learning and achievement, work apolitically with all stakeholders of my organization: Students, teachers, staff members, administrators, the superintendent, and school board members.

2.) I will demonstrate a high standard of professionalism and a commitment to customer satisfaction and will ensure the same from my administrative team (Vice-Principals, Guidance Counselors, Secretaries, and Office Personnel).

3.) I will consistently monitor my pedagogical knowledge and ensure that structures are in place to promote the same commitment in all staff members.

4.) I will remind myself (As well as others in my organization) daily that students of all ethnicities, regardless of performance on standardized tests and previous academic record, regardless of socio-economic status and status within the culture of the organization, want to learn and they deserve my support and approval in the process of doing so.

5.) I will monitor my organization for, and provide a structure for the reporting of, barriers to learning. In exchange for my pledge to remove all barriers to learning, I will expect and rely on the same commitment from all staff members each and every school day.

Summary

The Code of Professional Ethics presented here is reflective of my ideas and beliefs in regards to school leadership. Student learning and achievement is of the utmost importance and the aforementioned Code not only reflects this, but subsequently informs and guides all decision making as well.
